Mother Arrested When Toddlers Found In Unfit Conditions

A Lawrenceburg woman was arrested last week after authorities found her three toddlers covered in feces; one nude and playing outdoors.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were called to an apartment on Liberty Avenue on Tuesday where they found a two-year-old boy playing between two residences. They report that the child was completely nude, was covered in feces, and smelled strongly of feces and urine.
Officers made contact with the mother, Tamara Lea Reedy, age 26, inside. She said that she had been asleep and was unaware that her son had gone outside.
Inside the residence, officers report seeing Reedy’s one year old twin boys. Both, they report, had a very strong odor of feces and urine about them. They determined that both boys had been playing in the toilet prior to their arrival.
The diapers of both boys, reports show, were “overflowing with feces.” Reedy reportedly told officers that she had been asleep on the couch and was not sure what they twins had been doing.

Officers noticed several pills lying on the television stand in the living room. They report that the pills, later determined to be 10 mg hydrocodone pills, were wrapped in a clear plastic wrapper that was covered in a white residue.
The reporting officer indicates that when he went to his patrol car to retrieve an evidence bag, Reedy, “Took the clear plastic wrapper…and disposed of it.” He said that he asked Reedy about it, but that she stated, “I don’t’ know what you are talking about.” The officer reports that she eventually admitted she had thrown it into a trash can while he was out of the room.
Officers found another plastic wrapper inside Reedy’s night stand. They report that it contained four additional 10 mg hydrocodone pills. A 7.5 mg hydrocodone was seized from her makeup bag and one Xanax was found on her dresser.
Reedy was placed under arrest on charges that include three counts of child neglect, illegal possession of Schedule III narcotics, illegal possession of Schedule IV narcotics, and tampering with evidence.
She was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center under a bond of $6,000. She has been scheduled an initial appearance in general sessions court on September 5, 2013.
Officials with the Department of Children’s Services responded to the home to initiate an investigation and take custody of the children.
