Multiple agencies responded to a helicopter crash on the Tennessee River were reports indicate there was 3 survivors, and one death.

 

According to the Knoxville Police Department the local Fire Department along with Knox County Rescue Squad, and multiple agencies responded to a helicopter crash on Monday night.

The Eurocopter EC-130 carrying four passengers on
board crashed into the Tennessee River around 7:40 p.m. between Alcoa Highway and Sequoyah Hills. 

The Knoxville Fire Department reported that three passengers were able to escape the crash, but sadly one of the individuals on the helicopter was reported missing following the accident.

The three survivors who swam away from the wreckage was safely picked up in a pontoon boat while rescue efforts immediately began for the missing passenger.

Tragically at approximately 9:45 p.m. the Knoxville Fire Department confirmed that the body of the fourth passenger was found by divers.

At this time the FAA, and the National Safety Board are continuing to investigate the crash, and have yet to release the names of the passengers on board.
