Increase In Demo Debris Fees Rescinded

   Members of the board that governs the City of Lawrenceburg took action this week to lower the cost of disposing of demolition materials within the city.

   The Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Commissioners voted in May to implement a 20% increase in disposal fees for demolition materials in order to cover the cost of shipping those materials to a landfill in Pulaski. Demolition materials were shipped to the neighboring county for a short time, between the closing of the city’s old demolition landfill and the opening of the new one this week.

   With the new landfill now in full operation, commissioners voted Thursday evening to rescind the 20% increase, returning to the former disposal fee schedule.
