Despite Rumors School Will Begin As Scheduled
Despite rumors that have been circulating this week, officials with the Lawrence County School Board said Tuesday that the 2007-2008 school year will get underway next week, as scheduled.
Officials with the Lawrence County Board of Education indicated Tuesday that they had received a number of telephone calls regarding the rumors. Apparently many were under the impression that continuing work at Lawrence County High School would result in a week’s delay in the beginning of the school year.
Work has been on-going at the school in connection with a change from the traditional heating and cooling system, to the newly-installed geothermal system. Tuesday saw a large amount of debris from the system at the front of the main building on the L.C.H.S. campus. Although the work continues to create some obstacles, school officials indicate that classes will not be hampered.
Registration for students across the county is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 6. Classes will begin in earnest on Wednesday.
