The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club has yet to make a final decision if the 2020 Middle Tennessee District Fair will be open, but if the fair commences it will be outdoor only which would cancel pageants, indoor exhibits, etc.

 

The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club released the following statement on the Middle Tennessee District Fair page on Thursday:

"The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club is continuing to make plans for the 2020 Middle Tennessee District Fair, however a final decision to open has not yet been made.  If the decision is made to open, fair organizers have determined that this year’s fair will be an outdoor only event.

According to Fair Manager Tad Keaton, “We are nearly two months away from our planned opening and fair organizers are carefully monitoring the Covid 19 health situation.  No one knows what the situation will be in late September, but a decision made now to cancel would be irreversible while continuing to plan maintains the option to open or cancel based on evolving conditions.  The public may rest assured that MTDF and The Rotary Club will make a responsible decision on whether or not to open well before opening day”.

If a final decision is made to open, the 2020 Middle Tennessee District Fair will be an outdoor only event.  Indoor events including Fairest of the Fair pageants, indoor commercial exhibits, and indoor agricultural and creative arts exhibits have been cancelled in the interest of public safety.  Outdoor events including the Wade Shows midway, arena events, food booths, livestock shows and other outdoor attractions will operate subject to social distancing and other public health guidelines.  

Fair organizers have confirmed that our carnival provider will be taking extraordinary measures to minimize Covid exposure on the midway, and additional steps will be implemented at MTDF entrance gates, outside venues, and public restrooms.  Fairgoers will be encouraged to wear masks during their visit and a decision on whether masks will be required for all visitors will be made at a later date.

Planned fair dates are September 24 thru October 3, 2020 with specific event line up to be announced in the near future."
