Florence Alabama businesses man, and his wife died in a tragic crash in their single-engine plane.

 

According to the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office along with Coroner's Office they confirmed that Timothy Rhodes, 65, of Florence, Alabama, and his wife Doris Rhodes were the only victims in a deadly plane crash.

Rhodes and his wife both were owners of Tim Rhodes Properties which is a residential property management company in Florence that manages rental properties throughout the Shoals area.

Timothy Rhodes is also described as an "experienced pilot" who received his private pilot's license in 2002, and was a volunteer on the Shoals Chamber of Commerce's Air Services Committee.

The flight data reported that Rhodes, and one passenger took off from the Northwest Alabama Regional Airport on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. en route to Gulf Shores.

Jack Edwards National Airport Manager Scott Fuller reported that the single-engine plane left the airport before dark on Tuesday, and by 6:45 p.m. a distress call was sent out.

At 7:30 p.m. a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter spotted the crash sight in a small unincorporated community in northern Baldwin County.

Currently there has been no further details released as to what caused the crash, but the incident is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Bureau.
