Autopsy Reveals Death Was From Natural Causes

Autopsy results have revealed that the death of a Lawrenceburg woman in February was the result of natural causes.

Lawrenceburg Police Officers had been dispatched to investigate the death of Anita J. Cozart, 57, on February 7, 2009, inside her 1122 Crowson Road home. Family and friends reported they had become concerned when Cozart failed to answer telephone calls. They had requested that a Lawrenceburg Housing Authority employee conduct a welfare check at the home. When he did so he discovered Cozart had died while sitting upright at her kitchen table. Police officers were then summoned to initiate an investigation.

Although empty pill bottles were discovered at the scene and witnesses gave statements indicating that Cozart had been depressed, District Attorney Mike Bottoms said that the medical examiner’s findings indicated there was nothing suspicious about her passing. According to Bottoms Cozart expired as the result of hypertensive cardiovascular disease and there was no trace of drugs in her system. Cozart’s death has been ruled a natural one.
