Resident’s Name Used To Illegally Obtain Credit Card
A local resident told law enforcement officials Saturday that someone had illegally obtained a credit card in his name nearly a decade before.
The victim reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies that he was made aware of the matter when he received a call from a collection agency one day prior.
The agency representative told the victim that the balance due on the card totals $1,763.86. He indicated that someone had used his social security number in order to obtain the card on July 24, 2004.
Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division are tasked with investigating the matter further.
