Arrestee Charged With Bringing Firecrackers Into Jail

A man picked up by law enforcement officers over the weekend on outstanding warrants was issued another charge after deputies discovered he had firecrackers on his person during the booking process.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Corday Brionte Jones, 50, of 585 Skyline Drive, Lawrenceburg, on outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court and violation of probation shortly before 2:00 p.m. Sunday.

While they were booking Jones on the charges, reports show that they discovered he had a cigarette lighter in his pocket, along with two M-500 firework products, classified as explosive devices.

As a result, Jones was additionally charged with one count of introduction of contraband into a penal facility.

He is scheduled to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on August 4, 2008.
