Giles County crash victim rescued with backhoe

GILES COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — What began as a crash quickly became a multi-agency rescue operation in Giles County Sunday night.

The vehicle had apparently veered off the road before becoming entangled in fallen trees, according to Giles County Fire Rescue.

With the help of a backhoe, firefighters were able to reach and free the driver, who was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Giles County E911 and Giles County office of Emergency Management also responded to the scene, with the latter looking into concerns of a possible gas leak into the Blue Water Creek bed.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
