Kayaker rescued from Duck River in Maury County

COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WSMV) - An injured kayaker was pulled from a waterway in Columbia on Saturday.

The Maury County Fire Department sent crews to the Duck River near Carpenters Bridge to help the injured kayaker. A homeowner allowed them access to a private boat ramp which allowed units to launch a raft closer to the kayaker’s location, the MCFD said.

The rescue team reportedly paddled a few hundred yards and successfully retrieved the kayaker from the river. The kayaker received treatment for minor injuries, according to the MCFD.

The Maury County Office of Emergency Management also assisted with the rescue.
