COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WSMV) - “From rescue in Maury County to fame!”
As the new blockbuster movie, Superman, raked in $122 million for the third-biggest box office opening weekend of 2025, a Tennessee county mayor is highlighting a Volunteer State connection with the movie.
Mayor Sheila Butt reports that the dog featured in the new movie was rescued in Maury County.
“We are so proud to have had a hand in her journey. Sparrow was rescued from Maury County Animal Shelter and found her way to the Big Screen,” the mayor shared. “We couldn’t have written the script better ourselves. It is a simple story - an underdog with a second chance!”
