The shooter worked as a dietary aid before he attempted the assassination of the former president Donald Trump which tragically resulted in one death and several injuries in the crowd.

On Saturday around 6:03 p.m. Donald Trump took to the stage for his campaign rally in Butler, Pa where about the same time a man was spotted on the roof of a building about 160 yards, or some 400 feet.

Spectators began to alert the police where one officer attempted to reach the individual on the roof, but had to fall back as the shooter fired off shots.

As Trump was speaking on immigration the first three shots were fired that came from Trump's right which was followed by three more shots where one of those bullets hit Trump's ear as he took cover.

Secret Service swarmed Trump using their bodies to cover him as other Secret Service snipers shot and killed the shooter.

Before Secret Service could escort the former president off the stage to a nearby vehicle Trump raised his fist in the air letting everyone know that he was ok.

Some people in the crowd began to inform law enforcement that their was several victims who had been shot in the attempted assassination.

The victims included 50 year old Corey Comperatore, a firefighter, father and big fan of Donald Trump who was shot in the head and tragically killed.

Corey's wife spoke with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro who stated at a news conference the next day that her husband died a hero as he dove onto his family to protect them before he was shot.

Two other people, David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74 were critically wounded where one of the victims has been reported to be in a medically induced coma.

Trump was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment, and later issued a statement letting everyone that he was safe after being shot in the ear.

Following this attempted assassination of Donald Trump around 8:13 p.m.President Biden spoke out against violence surrounding the shooting where he said it could not be condoned and called for the country to unite.

1:20 a.m. on Sunday: FBI identified the gunman as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20 year old who lived in Bethel, Pennsylvania, about 50 miles from the rally site.

According to the FBI the shooter graduated with an associate's degree in engineering science from a community college and worked at a nursing and rehabilitation center as a dietary aid.

So far, investigators say the shooters motive is not known, but that it appears he did act alone.

Investigators throughout the night and into the morning searched the suspect's home and car where a suspicious device was located before being rendered safe by bomb technicians.

On Sunday morning Trump thanked everyone for their prayers and stated that, "it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening."

Later on that day Trump confirmed that he will be going to Milwaukee as planned for the The Republican National Convention, which kicks off Monday.

Trump has this to say about his decision to continue with his schedule, "Based on yesterday's terrible events, I was going to delay my trip to Wisconsin, and The Republican National Convention, by two days, but have just decided that I cannot allow a "shooter," or potential assassin, to force change to scheduling, or anything else. Therefore, I will be leaving for Milwaukee, as scheduled, at 3:30 P.M. TODAY."
