On 07/11/2024 Agents with the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant

at 1837 Co Rd 38 in the Greenhill area. LCDTF agents had the residence under surveillance prior to the search warrant.

While the Florence/Lauderdale Special Operations Team was en route to make entry into the house the target of the search warrant left the residence.

Deputies with the Lauderdale County Sherriff’s Office stopped the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was Kelby Dwight Pettus and the passenger was Colby Wayne Jones. Jones had a felony warrant for his arrest. He was arrested without incident. Pettus was transported back to his residence to complete the search warrant.

While stopping the vehicle the Florence/Lauderdale Special Operations Team made entry into the residence. Daniel Aaron Bracey was located inside of the residence.

A search of the residence revealed approximately 576 grams (over a pound) of Methamphetamine (ICE), approximately 10 grams of white powder suspected to be Fentanyl powder mixed with a cutting agent and drug paraphernalia that is consistent with drug sales and use.

The Fentanyl powder had an inconclusive field test for Fentanyl due to being heavily diluted with a cutting agent. The substance will be sent to lab for further testing and additional charges for trafficking in Fentanyl will be added later. The street value of the drugs seized would be $17,000.

Kelby Dwight Pettus 41 Florence
