Lawrenceburg Fire Department HAZMAT team was called to the scene in Summertown after teenager sustained chemical burns.

On July 10th around 11:30 a.m. Summertown Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene along with members of the Lawrence County Emergency Medical Service to a teenager who had sustained chemical burns in a hazardous materials incident.

Crews worked to quickly render aid to the fourteen-year-old male, who had sustained chemical burns to his hands before requesting assistance from members of Lawrenceburg Fire Department’s HAZMAT team and the Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency.

Once on-scene, EMA requested additional assistance from explosives technicians and specialized investigators where on their arrival, the hazard of the chemicals was abated.”

At this time the incident currently remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department’s Criminal Investigation Division, with assistance from the other agencies involved.
