Deputy Shot, Suspect Killed In Tuesday Domestic Altercation
Sources indicate that a local deputy sustained gunshot wounds while intervening in a domestic altercation south of Lawrenceburg Tuesday afternoon, and his assailant is dead.
While few details have yet been released, sources indicate that Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy Byron Shelton, who had been dispatched to intervene in the domestic altercation, sustained two gunshot wounds during the call.
Shelton was airlifted from the nearby Story and Lee area to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
Officials remain on the scene at the current time. We hope to have additional information after 9:00 p.m.
