Relative Makes Off With Arrestee's Bail Money
A Lawrenceburg man was forced to remain incarcerated Monday after a relative apparently absconded with his bail money.
The wife of the man incarcerated contacted deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department at around 4:00 p.m. She reported that her husband had been incarcerated at the local jail and that she has seizures and cannot drive. Under the circumstances her husband called upon a female cousin to bring him bail money.
The wife said that the cousin came to her house and got $1,500 at around 8:00 a.m., but that she had not been able to get in touch with her afterwards.
Deputies report they made attempts to contact the cousin via her home phone and cell phone, but were unsuccessful.
The victims were advised about the process of obtaining a criminal summons.
