NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two men are in custody after they allegedly conspired in a murder-for-hire plot.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, 52-year-old Nakia Bohanon admitted to shooting a man on University Court in the Napier-Sudekum neighborhood on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 30.
Bohanon reportedly told detectives on Thursday that he was hired to shoot the man and did so out of loyalty. He is now being charged with attempted criminal homicide.
Metro police identified the man who hired Bohanon as 26-year-old Kybreun Scott. He is now being charged with conspiracy to commit criminal homicide.
The MNPD’s South Precinct officers and Specialized Investigations Division collaborated in the investigation, which led to Bohanon’s arrest on Thursday along Lafayette Street, police said.
According to the MNPD, Bohanon said Scott wanted the other man shot because of previous issues the two had. Bohanon said the agreed payment was $2,850, and he received $350 after the shooting.
Police said Bohanon was free on a $2,500 bond from a May 23 burglary arrest when he was arrested on Thursday.
The MNPD’s Special Investigations Division detectives arrested Scott on Wednesday afternoon after he reportedly fled from an attempted traffic stop. Detectives seized an AK pistol, a bag of 110 grams of cocaine and $2,432 in cash from the Infiniti Q50 he was driving, officials said.
According to the MNPD, Scott was taken into custody on the following charges: felony cocaine possession, gun possession in the commission of a dangerous felony, evading arrest in a motor vehicle and unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon.
Police said Scott had been previously convicted of aggravated assault after he shot into his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle in 2022. He received a four-year probated sentence.
The man who was shot on Tuesday suffered injuries to both legs and a graze wound on his head. He is recovering at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
