ROAD RAGE INCIDENT ESCALATES TO GUNFIRE IN LAWRENCE COUNTY — ONE ARRESTED

A frightening case of road rage turned violent late Friday night in Lawrence County, ending with gunfire and an arrest.

Just after 11 p.m. on June 27th, deputies were dispatched to a home on Red Hill Center Road following reports that a driver had fired shots at a residence after a road rage encounter involving a 16-year-old girl.

According to authorities, the teen had accidentally used her high beams while driving, which appeared to anger another motorist. The suspect reportedly followed the girl home, where an argument occurred between the driver and the teen’s father in the driveway. After leaving the scene, the suspect allegedly returned and fired a shot toward the house.

Deputies responded to the area and soon spotted a vehicle matching the suspect’s description — a dark-colored, older-model four-door car — traveling near the grain bins close to the victim’s home.

The vehicle was stopped, and the driver — identified as Briley Kase McMullin — was taken into custody without incident. Deputies say McMullin admitted to becoming angry after being bright-lighted and confessed to retrieving a handgun from his grandmother’s residence before returning to the home on Red Hill Center Road and firing a shot.
