Market Employee Duped By Scam Artist
An employee at a Lawrenceburg market reported to authorities Saturday that she had been duped by a man who had posed as a representative of a phone card company.
The clerk reported that the man had come in while she was on duty at Quik Mart #6, located at 710 East Gaines Street, at around 12:20 a.m.
When the man entered the store he claimed that he was a representative of InComm. She said he asked for the store ID code so that he could process four cell phone time vouchers, each for $50.
Officers report that they made contact with InComm, but that the company was unable to provide any information on who used the vouchers.
The case currently remains under investigation.
