Tuesday Morning Lightning Causes Minor Damage At Lawrenceburg Business
No injuries in Monday apartment fire
A Lawrenceburg business sustained minor damage Tuesday morning when lightning ran in on the fuse box.
Lawrenceburg Fire Department Investigator Shayne Adams reported that units were summoned to a possible fire at Professional Auto Detailing, situated at the North Locust Avenue/Lawrence Street intersection, around 7:30 a.m.
When they arrived, firefighters discovered there was no actual blaze, but rather lightning had damaged the power panel, causing smoke to emanate throughout the building. Business owners experienced damage to the fuse box as well as smoke damage.
A fire that occurred Monday at B&K Apartments on Mahr Avenue, Adams said, was quickly contained, resulting in no injuries.
Fire crews were dispatched to the apartments shortly before 1:00 p.m. after a relative entered an apartment to discover a stove fire.
Believing that she had turned the stove off, the resident had gone to another part of the apartment. The relative entered to discover the grease fire.
Fire damages were contained to the kitchen, with minor heat and smoke damage also reported to the single apartment. “Had it been discovered two minutes later,” Adams pointed out, “It could have been a bad situation.”
