Skinny Dippers Arrested At City Park

A couple indulging in a bout of late night skinny dipping at a city park were arrested early Sunday morning.

According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department, an officer on patrol was making a sweep through Hope Springs Park shortly after 2:30 a.m. when he noticed a truck parked near the creek, well after the posted park usage hours.

The reporting officer indicates no one was around the truck, so he walked toward the creek. When he shone his light on the creek area, he reports a partially unclothed man and woman were in the water.

The officer indicates he asked the couple what they were doing, and that they stated they had “decided to go skinny dipping.”

The officer ordered the couple to re-dress, then walk back to their truck. He noted there was a beer can lying on the ground next to the man’s clothing. The officer then explained to the pair that alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all city parks.

Both, the officer noted, smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage. He also noted that both exhibited obvious signs of being intoxicated.

As a result of the incident both were placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Jail.

Albert Allen Hennessey, 31, of 222 Groh Street, and Rebecca Gail Smith, 47, of 220 Groh Street, were charged with one count apiece of public intoxication. They will be required to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on September 3, 2010.
