Lawrence County 4-H Horse Judging Team Earns Third Place at Tennessee State Contest

The Lawrence County 4-H Junior High Horse Judging Team brought home an impressive third-place finish at the Tennessee State 4-H Horse Judging Contest, showcasing the dedication, knowledge, and hard work of its young competitors.

Representing Lawrence County were LiviAna Landon, Jordynn Ridner, and Elizabeth Blackston, all students at Summertown Middle School. Competing against some of the state’s top junior high horse judging teams, the trio demonstrated exceptional skill in evaluating horse conformation and performance classes while applying industry standards to accurately rank horses and defend their decisions.

Horse judging contests help develop valuable life skills including critical thinking, decision-making, public speaking, teamwork, and confidence. Participants learn to evaluate horses based on correctness, structural soundness, movement, and overall performance, preparing them for future leadership opportunities within the equine industry and beyond.

The team’s third-place finish reflects countless hours of practice, studying, and commitment to excellence. Their achievement is a testament not only to their individual talents but also to the support of their families, coaches, volunteers, and the Lawrence County 4-H program.

Lawrence County is proud of LiviAna, Jordynn, and Elizabeth for representing their community with professionalism and determination. Their success at the state level is an outstanding accomplishment and highlights the strength of the county’s 4-H youth development program.

Congratulations to the Lawrence County 4-H Junior High Horse Judging Team on an outstanding season and a well-earned third-place finish at the Tennessee State 4-H Horse Judging Contest.
