One fatality has been confirmed after single-engine plane crashed in Tennessee on Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday morning approximately 8:25 a.m. the City of Martin Fire/Rescue responded to a report of a small plane crash in the 900 block of Vancleave Road in the rural area of Martin, Tennessee.

Weakley County EMA, Sheriff, and Rescue Squad were assisting on scene where crews located a small single-engine aircraft about 50 yards off the roadway in a wooded area.

At the time of the crash Vancleave Road was shut down from Three Point Road to Royal Oak Cove, and around 3:45 p.m. the scene of the crash had been cleared.

The name of the deceased will not be released until the family has been notified, according to Fire Capt. Kory Green.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) were notified and dispatched to the scene of the accident. An investigation is currently underway and the FAA will return to the scene Wednesday morning.
