Resident Reports Government Stimulus Funds Stolen
Lawrenceburg law enforcement officials have launched an investigation into a resident’s claims that a man who gave her a ride to cash her government stimulus check, stole it before returning her to her home.
The victim told Lawrenceburg Police Officers Saturday that she had accepted a ride from her Roberts Avenue home to Greene Bank on Pulaski Street so that she could cash her IRS stimulus check, in the amount of $350.00.
The victim told officers that she cashed the check and returned to the vehicle. While they were riding, she said the man took the case out of her purse, then refused to return it. He and his companion then dropped her off at her home, minus her money.
The victim told officers that it was not until she had arrived home that she noticed her medications were also missing from her purse.
Authorities were provided with a name and address for the man. The matter is currently under investigation by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
