A traffic stop resulted in a arrest after a Lawrenceburg Police Officer observed a motorist swerving off the roadway into a parking lot, and almost hitting a parked car.

A Lawrenceburg Police Officer was patrolling in the area of May Street, and Buffalo Road on Saturday when he observed a motorist in a red Chevrolet Sedan driving erratically.

As the officer continued to follow the motorist he observed the vehicle swerve off the road, and into the parking lot of the Trading Post on the South side of May Street where the driver continued swerving along the roadway almost hitting a parked car when the officer iniated his emergency lights.

The officer attempted to pull over the driver who continued traveling along Mahr Avenue eventually pulling into a residential driveway, and began exiting the vehicle where the driver was unsteady on his feet almost falling to the ground.

Once the officer made contact with the driver he admitted to consuming Xanax where the driver was placed under arrest for driving under the influence after failing a field sobriety test.

The suspect was transported to the Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems for a blood draw, and then to the Lawrence County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
