Driver Finds His Vehicle Is On Fire
A Mt. Pleasant resident who made his way to Summertown Monday to look at an automobile discovered his vehicle had caught fire while he was driving.
The victim, Andrew Hunter Nance, age 23, placed a 911 call at 5:47 p.m. Monday to request assistance. He reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies at the scene that he had been heading home, traveling along Jonestown Road, when he began to smell smoke. He looked back to find the rear of the 2007 GMC Yukon in which he was traveling, was in flames.
Nance told deputies he immediately stopped, exited the vehicle, and ran approximately 100 feet before placing the 911 call.
Members of the Summertown Fire Department responded to the scene, extinguishing the blaze. The vehicle, however, was a total loss. Loss is estimated at $35,000.
