The body of a 21 year old male was recovered from the Tennessee River after the man had jumped into the water and never resurfaced.

The Colbert County Dive Team alongside Sheffield Police were working to locate a swimmer who had jumped into the river, but did not resurface.

According to Colbert County Sheriff Eric Balentine the 21-year-old who was from out of state was near the Whippoorwill area swimming with friends when the incident occurred.

On Wednesday afternoon Dive Teams worked for a little over two hours before tragically finding the body.

At this time no further information has been released.
