Inmate found deceased at Lauderdale County Alabama Detention Center

Brian McKinney, 39, of Tuscumbia was found unresponsive inside his cell at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday in what authorities believe was an apparent self harm incident.

The Detention center staff immediately responded by starting life-saving measures, but sadly McKinney was later pronounced deceased.

McKinney was incarcerated at the Lauderdale County Detention Center since June 12th on drug related charges.

Sheriff Hamilton spoke with new outlets where he said that the incident appears to be self-inflicted, though the investigation remains ongoing where the Alabama Bureau of Investigations along with other agencies are expected to assist in the investigation.

McKinney’s body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville, Alabama where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause of death.
