Fees And Regulations Established For City Impound Lot
Members of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council approved an ordinance Thursday that establishes regulations and fees for the city’s impound lot on Mahr Avenue.
The ordinance imposes a $40 per day fee for each vehicle impounded. Any portion of a day is to be considered a full day.
Lawrenceburg Police Chief Judy Moore explained that state law allows the city to impound and/or seize vehicles in certain instances, such as drug-related arrests. At times a vehicle may be towed to the lot if it is found unattended and is creating a traffic hazard. She said that the ordinance does not change the way the lot is operated or the vehicles that will be impounded there. “We’ve just never had a fee before,” she said.
The ordinance was approved on second and final reading.
