Local Boy Drowns In Knob Creek
Emergency workers retrieved the body of a young boy who drowned after falling into Knob Creek Saturday evening.
Nine year old Zachrie Nielson was reportedly swept away in the swift waters at around 6:00 p.m.
Members of many local emergency agencies responded to assist in the operation. Witnesses provided information indicating that the boy had been swept into a tile beneath a bridge.
A press release issued through the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department indicates that members of the Swift Water Rescue Team responded and efforts to locate the child were focused in that area.
The boy was retrieved from the tile, however he was pronounced dead at the scene.
