Home Burglarized While Resident Is Away
An investigation was initiated Saturday after it was discovered that a Turnpike Road home had been burglarized while the resident was out of state.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies were called to 1231 Turnpike at around 10:00 p.m.
The complainant reported noticing at around 8:30 that morning that someone had thrown a brick through the back door. He said he believed the crime to have occurred sometime after 10:00 the previous night.
The complainant said he had walked through the home to check for missing items. A flat screen television was missing however he was uncertain whether anything else had been stolen.
Deputies noted that bedroom drawers had been rummaged through and a glass broken on a gun cabinet in the basement.
Loss at that point was estimated at $800. The victim told deputies he would conduct a full inventory upon his return.
