The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,124 calls for service during May 2026, resulting in 140 arrests.

According to statistics released by the department, deputies conducted 193 traffic stops and investigated 15 crashes during the month.
Other activity included 246 civil processes served, 19 funeral escorts, 13 mental health transports, 35 domestic violence calls, 11 vandalism cases, 27 burglar alarm calls, and 14 theft reports.
The Sheriff’s Office also reported seven suicide attempts or threats, 16 fraud cases, 73 animal-related calls, 31 suspicious person or activity calls, and 26 motorist assists.
During May, the department recorded one SWAT deployment and three Taser deployments.
