Subject: Grain Bin Rescue Training

Last night more than 80 first responders from Lawrence and surrounding counties gathered at the Jason Dickey Training Center to participate in a grain bin entrapment training class.

The first responders attending included Fire, EMS, and law enforcement. The training was made possible as part of a grain bin rescue equipment grant that was awarded through a competitive process through Nationwide Insurance and Casualty company.

Lawrence County Fire Rescue also accepted delivery of a new “Great Wall of Rescue” device that was also awarded to us as part of the grant. Our personnel trained until almost midnight last night running several grain entrapment scenarios using the entrapment prop.

We are grateful for the grant opportunity, and the valuable equipment and training equipment that were included in it. We are also extremely thankful for the multi agency working relationships that we have.

Our goal is to build and equip a second grain bin response trailer to strategically locate in our County. If you or your business is interested in donating to the project please contact us."
