Instance Of Arson Eyed By Law Enforcement Officials
Law enforcement officials launched an investigation last week after a resident reported someone had broken into her home and set some of her belongings afire.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department answered the 10:00 a.m. call to 704 Second Avenue on Friday. The resident reported she had been away from her home since 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
She returned to find someone had gained entry to her home through a rear door on the north side. Officers noted there was no sign of forced entry.
Inside, the resident discovered the culprit had ignited a metal basket full of clothes. The basket was in a storage area of the home, near an eastern door.
The entire room and contents were said to have sustained fire and smoke damage. Damages as a result of the crime were estimated to total $1,645.00.
Investigation into the crime has been assigned to detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has knowledge of the matter is encouraged to contact the department at 762-2276.
