Authorities Investigate Cashing Of Counterfeit Checks
Law enforcement officers were asked to open an investigation last week after officials at a local bank discovered that checks cashed at their location were actually counterfeit.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to the Bank of Frankewing, 1200 North Locust Avenue, to meet with bank officials. They reported that on May 15 a woman had cashed two checks at their location.
Bank officials said that by the time they discovered that the checks were counterfeit the woman had taken the cash and left.
Officers report they attempted to make contact with the woman by telephone. At the time reports were filed their efforts had been unsuccessful.
Investigation in the matter is on-going at the present time.
