Severe Thunderstorms Cause Widespread Damage and Power Outages

Severe thunderstorms swept through Lawrence County on Sunday afternoon around 3:00 p.m., bringing high winds that downed numerous trees and power lines across the area. The most heavily impacted locations included the city of Lawrenceburg and the northern portion of Lawrence County, including the community of Summertown. At the height of the event, more than 1,200 customers of the Lawrenceburg Utility System were without power.

Emergency responders from Lawrence County Fire Rescue, Lawrenceburg Fire Department, and multiple law enforcement agencies and EMA were dispatched to assist with storm damage cleanup and to ensure public safety. Crews worked swiftly to remove debris from roadways and restore accessibility.

The Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency urges all residents to remain cautious around downed power lines and to report any remaining hazards to local authorities.
We thank all responding agencies and utility crews for their prompt and professional efforts in restoring services and clearing roadways.
