EMS Worker Recovering Following Lightning Strike
An employee of the Lawrence County Ambulance Service is recuperating after having been struck by lightning during a severe storm that swept through the county overnight Wednesday.
Emergency Medical Service Technician Ronald Buttrum was reportedly standing outside the ambulance service building on West Gaines Street around 2:30 Thursday morning keeping an eye on a passing storm when a bolt of lightning struck the area, causing him serious injury.
Buttrum was transported to Crockett Hospital, then on to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where Thursday morning officials reported he was doing well.
