An Unwanted Subject at a Residence Leads to an Arrest for Drugs in Lawrence County

On Tuesday, May 13th the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of an unwanted subject.

When deputies arrived, they made contact with the subject that stated he was there to get his mother and his money the IRS owed him. The owner of the property wanted the subject removed.

The deputy then went to the vehicle the subject was in to obtain information. While standing at the vehicle, the deputy could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle.

The deputy then asked the subject to retrieve the marijuana from his vehicle and the subject handed over a small amount. After being asked if this was all the subject stated that was all he had.

The deputy advised the subject that there was still a strong smell coming from the vehicle and at that point it was probable cause to search the vehicle. The subject then admitted there was more.

The subject then retrieved 3.2 ounces of marijuana along with twenty-four Ecstasy pills. After searching the vehicle, the deputy discovered a glass pipe along with rolling papers believed for the use of marijuana. The subject was then arrested for the drugs he had in his possession and was transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
