A Lawrenceburg Resident is Arrested on Drug Charges, a Month Later is Arrested Again

On Monday, May 12th, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Old Florence Road to a familiar apartment complex with occupants known from prior interactions. Investigators travelled to the area to observe any suspicious activity when they saw a maroon vehicle travelling North Bound on Old Florence Road. The vehicle was recognized and belonged to Wanda Shelton, who was also the target for the traffic in and out of the apartment complex.

Shelton was observed driving at a very slow speed of 10 mph, looking down, and driving in the center of the roadway. Investigators attempted to stop the vehicle, but Shelton did not stop until she parked at the apartment complex.

After making contact with Shelton, she appeared delusional and slow to respond. After being asked where she was coming from Shelton stated the doctor’s office. Investigators asked Shelton if she had anything illegal on her person or in her vehicle in which she stated “No”. She informed investigators that after they executed a search warrant on her residence she had stopped selling or doing drugs.

Shelton was arrested on April 10th, 2025 after law enforcement searched her residence and found 6 ounces of fentanyl laced with “bath salts” and methamphetamine, 2 ounces of methamphetamine, and a variety of paraphernalia.

After speaking with Shelton, officers observed numerous pipes with residue and a straw inside of her vehicle. Shelton then admitted she had a small amount of narcotics in her vehicle and handed it over to law enforcement. She reached in a container and handed officers a large bag that contained 2 ounces of Fentanyl and another ounce of methamphetamine. The bag also contained digital scales, pipes and other baggies all commonly used for the consumption and sale of illegal narcotics. Shelton was then arrested on the scene while her residence remained locked. Shelton denied any kind of search of the residence and denied having anything further. Investigators then obtained a search warrant for the residence and vehicle where they discovered a gun, paraphernalia including digital scales, baggies and multiple other items. Shelton was charged for Resale of Schedule 2 (Fentanyl), Resale of Schedule 2 (Meth), Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Shelton was transported to Lawrence County Jail without incident.
