Early Dismissal
May 20, 2025

Lawrence County School System will dismiss at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 20, 2025. EMA and local weather authorities are anticipating the possibility of severe weather moving into our area between the hours of 2:00-5:00 P.M.,
which may impact Student Transportation Services. An early dismissal provides adequate time for buses to operate safely and return safely to their origination point.

Teachers will be dismissed at 1:45 P.M.

11 & 12 month school based employees will be dismissed at 2:30 P.M.

The Central Office staff will be dismissed at 3:00 P.M. with the office closing at 3:00 P.M.

LCSS hopes early notification allows for parents and guardians to make arrangements for childcare.

After any seasonal weather event, please do the following:
•Stay off roadways when possible;
•If you must travel, leave home earlier than usual;
•Slow down when driving;
•Be mindful of black ice on roadways, walkways, entrances, etc.
•Do not cross low water bridges with rapid moving current;
•Be alert and drive safely
