Giles County Emergency management crews responded to a train derailment Monday night.

Per CSX Official Release

At approximately 7:35 p.m. ET on Monday, May 18, a CSX train came in contact with the rear of another CSX train located near Beech Hill Road in Frankewing, Tennessee, resulting in the derailment of at least five railcars. There were no injuries to the train crew.

Giles County Emergency Management was notified and responded to the scene. There has been no release of hazardous materials and there is no risk to the public. We can confirm that two derailed cars lost an unknown amount of plastic pellets, some of which entered a nearby waterway.

Our primary focus is on the safety of responding personnel as our crews work to minimize the content loss of plastic pellets, clear the tracks, and restore the impacted site. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation..
