Swisher To Close Lawrenceburg Plant
Story: Lashawn Baxter
Employees of Swisher were issued a sixty day notice Monday morning that the company will be closing it's Lawrenceburg manufacturing operation. Swisher produces lawnmowers, sweepers and other types of lawn and garden equipment inside the Tennessee Enterprise Center, the former Murray building.
Chamber of Commerce executive director Chad Chancellor says Swisher will keep it's warehouse, engineering and testing operations in Lawrenceburg. Swisher currently employees 101 full-time employees and 149 temporary workers. Chancellor says the chamber is working with another company that manufactures similar type products that could possibly take Swisher's place. Chancellor says the closure is apparently due to a corporate restructuring in an effor t to cut costs.
