Woman Run Over During Domestic Altercation
A Lawrenceburg woman reported to law enforcement officials late last week that her ex-husband had run over her with his truck in the wake of a domestic altercation at her home.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the Greenbriar Road home around 5:30 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, they report the female resident, age 35, was leaning against a vehicle in her front yard and appeared to be having trouble walking.
The victims reported that she and her ex-husband had become involved in an argument earlier about whether he had gotten his truck title transferred into his name.
During the argument, she reported that she went to the rear of the truck and began removing the license plate. She indicated that he began backing up, knocking her to the ground.
He then reportedly ran over her foot before leaving. The entire incident, deputies report, occurred in front of the couple’s seventeen-year-old son.
The son confirmed the mother’s recounting of events, stating that she attempted to get out of the way, but was unsuccessful.
While they were taking statements from the victim deputies report they were notified that the man involved had surrendered himself at the Lawrence County Jail. There, Gerald Lloyd Belt, 36, of 415 Spofford Road, Pulaski, was booked on charges of aggravated domestic assault. He will be required to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on June 21, 2010.
