A man is dead and his wife and two children in critical condition after a fiery multi-car Mother's Day crash involving an 18-wheeler.
Investigators say Lane Smith died when that truck slammed into 6 cars on Interstate 75 near Chattanooga.
They say two cars, including Smith's, burst into flames with him and his family trapped inside.
Smith's wife and son are in a Chattanooga hospital. His daughter was airlifted to a Nashville hospital for care.
According to a GoFundMe page, the family was returning home from the daughter's dance competition in Chattanooga, when that crash happened.
A Georgia man also died in the crash.
The driver of that 18-wheeler is now charged with several crimes including reckless homicide, reckless endangerment, and aggravated assault.
Smith's cousin set up that GoFundMe page to raise money to help with the family's growing medical costs.
