Tennessee Main Street Program is a program of Tennessee Dept. of Economic & Community Development and a coordinating program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s National Main Street Center.

The Program works statewide program to provide communities with technical assistance and guidance in developing long-term strategies that promote economic development, historic preservation and growth in traditional commercial districts.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Main Street Center--a comprehensive, incremental, self-help economic strategy that focuses on developing public-private partnerships to enhance community livability and job creation, while maintaining the historic character of the heart of the traditional commercial district.
The program requires certified Tennessee Main Street communities to meet National Accreditation standards which include broad-based community support for the program, a comprehensive work plan, a sufficient operating budget and adequate staff and volunteer support.
