Stewart County man added to TBI’s Most Wanted list as manhunt continues

STEWART COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man accused of shooting his wife in Stewart County has been added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Most Wanted list as a dayslong manhunt continues to locate him.

The TBI issued the alert for 53-year-old Craig Berry at approximately 10:12 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6.

Berry is wanted by the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office and TBI for several charges, including attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a weapon, domestic assault and leaving the scene of an accident.

The charges stem from an incident that took place on Friday, May 1. Authorities said Berry shot his wife before fleeing into the woods near the 100 block of Old Paris Highway. Since then, multiple law enforcement agencies—the SCSO, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Homeland Security and TBI—have joined a search to locate Berry.According to the SCSO, Berry is a retired special forces veteran and has extensive training in survival tactics. He is reported to be an excellent swimmer and diver and is in good physical shape.

On Wednesday, officials announced that law enforcement had expanded their search efforts to the northern part of Tennessee near the Kentucky border. Berry was last seen wearing camouflage clothing. He is reportedly armed with a rifle and is believed to have taken extra ammunition.The TBI described Berry as 5-feet 11-inches tall, 185 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. A reward of up to $2,500 is being award for any information regarding his whereabouts.
