Investigation underway after two-year-old child found in pool dies at hospital

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A two-year-old female child died at the hospital after being found at the bottom of a pool in Elkmont on Sunday.

According to Limestone County Coroner Mike West, the incident happened along Miller Lane in Elkmont. The initial call came through as a missing child to 911 at around 12:43 p.m.

West said the child was found at the bottom of the pool.

The child was transported by Athens EMS and survival flight air medical to Huntsville Hospital where they later died.

The incident remains under investigation by the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.
