Lawrence County Man Sentenced To Over Four Decades In Prison For Child Sex Offenses.

Back in March of last year an investigation was launched into child sex charges by the Saint Joseph Police Department.

Lawrence County Grand Jury later indicted Cox on charges and he was taken into custody on a two-million-dollar bond.

On Thursday Cox appeared before Circuit Court Judge Julie Heffington in Lawrence County where he entered a guilty plea.

After hearing a powerful victim impact statement, Cox was sentenced to 42 years in prison where he must serve 100 percent of the sentence.

District Attorney General Brent Cooper said, "I am hopeful that this family can begin to heal now. These cases always remind me of two things: 1. Evil exists in this world. And 2. Good will always triumph over evil. We saw and heard that today in the words of one of the young victims. A display of courage and strength few adults possess nowadays"

The victim's family expressed their gratitude to the Saint Joesph Police Department and the 22nd District Attorney's Office for delivering justice.
