Crimes Reported By Walmart Employees
Officials with the Lawrenceburg Walmart store reported crimes that had occurred on the premises to local police officers last week.
Lawrenceburg Police officers opened an investigation Tuesday after receiving a fraud complaint from employees of Walmart.
Employees reported that after entering the store a man had walked around, selecting a hatchet and some lip balm from areas of the store.
The employees reported that the man went to the customer service station and turned the items in, requesting a refund.
He was given a gift card worth $46.58, after which he left.
Officers were able to run the driver’s license number the man gave and were able to identify a possible suspect.
Walmart officials also reported Tuesday that they will be pursuing prosecution against two Wayne County women who were allegedly caught shoplifting.
They told police officers that the women stuffed $310 worth of merchandise into diaper bags while walking around the store.
When confronted the women admitted they had stolen the items and offered to pay for them.
The stolen merchandise included items such as clothing, shampoo, a child’s swimming float, and a back pack.
Store officials said they will be seeking prosecution against Kirari Ann Smith, 32, of Waynesboro and Amanda Lynn Davis, 25, of Collinwood.
